Table of Contents

As a travel writer and former digital nomad, I know what it’s like to want to balance a love for travel with the constant need to work. From quiet corners in coffee shops to finding the coolest co-working spaces to settle into for a few days, I’ve taken calls, sent emails, and done work from just about everywhere.

That’s why I want to launch the first ever Ulaanbaatar Digital Nomad Week from June 2 – 9, 2024.

To bring other digital nomads from around the world together and experience a place that will inspire and get your creatives juices going in an entirely new way.

If you’re a digital nomad or your job allows you to work from anywhere, this week is for you.

I’ll show you my city, introduce you to some of the coolest CEO’s around, and we’ll experience a side of Mongolia that most people don’t even know exists. We’ll work together in a co-working space in the day, and I’ll fill our mornings and evenings with a mix of experiences that will give you a better idea of Mongolia and the people who make it such an exciting place to live.

Additionally, I’ll take you to some of the places I love and frequent most. From monasteries to sound baths and meditations, the city’s best restaurants and bars, to a day trip out to get a selfie with the Chinggis Khaan Equestrian Statue and lunch with my favorite local horse herding family, we’ll experience it all.

So, this is my call for all those remote working, laptop warriors who are looking for some inspiration in one of the least likely places. A place where the word nomad means just that. But where young locals are changing their country for the better, and you’ll have the chance to see that firsthand.

I’m calling you to join me for the first ever Ulaanbaatar Digital Nomad week.

Ulaanbaatar Digital Nomad Week Schedule

This week will be a mix of work and play. The chance to get serious but also have fun exploring Mongolia and understanding the history, culture, and people that make it such a unique place to visit.

This itinerary is still a work in progress and more networking opportunities will be added.

The dates for this Digital Nomad Week are June 2 – 9, 2024.

It’s important to note that this is not a call to come for a company in Ulaanbaatar, you will need to come with your own work to occupy you during the co-working office hours during the week.

You will be entering the country as a tourist and for tourism purposes.

Day 1 (Sunday): Welcome to Ulaanbaatar
Today you'll land in Ulaanbaatar and get your first glimpses into life in Mongolia. You'll have the day to rest, exchange money, get a SIM card, and explore at will. You'll start to get to know your flat mates and in the evening we'll meet for a welcome dinner and orientation.
Day 2 (Monday): Work Day + Meet Local CEO's
Wake up with a morning yoga session and sound bath before getting ready to head to the "office." You'll have the day to work and in the evening you'll have the chance to learn more about the local startup scene from the CEO's leading the way.
Day 3 (Tuesday): Work Day + Cultural Day
Listening to the monks chant is a great way to start any day in Mongolia. You'll have the day to work and in the evening we'll take a traditional Mongolian painting class where you can channel your creativity and let it flow.
Day 4 (Wednesday): Work Day + Ger District Day
There will be an optional sunrise hike this morning before we get our work day started. In the afternoon we'll head to the Ger District, where locals still live in yurts, to learn more about life in this part of the city from a local organization is working on shedding light on the hardship these residents face daily.
Day 5 (Thursday): Day Trip to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park
Today we'll leave the city and our electronics behind and head to the countryside for some fresh air. We'll stop at the Chinggis Khaan Equestrian Statue for a quick selfie before heading off to meet one of my local horse herding families for lunch and an afternoon ride.
Day 6 (Friday): Work Day + TGIF
Taking today slow we'll wrap up our work day with an afternoon happy hour before going to see a local cultural show. We'll have dinner together before hitting the town and experiencing Mongolia's nightlife.
Day 7 (Saturday): Free Day
Spend your day today however you'd like. We'll have a late bottomless mimosa brunch together before you head off to do any last souvenir shopping, musuem strolling, cashmere browsing, or anything else you didn't get to do during the work week. You could even get a massage and make it a self-care Saturday!
Day 8 (Sunday): Depart Ulaanbaatar
It's time to head to the airport to begin your journey to your next destination.

About Breanna, Your Host

With me as your host, you’re in good hands while you’re in Ulaanbaatar.

I’ve been living here for six years, getting to know this city inside and out. During this week I’ll introduce to my friends, entrepreneurs I respect, and show you what life in Ulaanbaatar is really like.

Is joining this Digital Nomad Week right for me?

Are you any of the following? (And, please be brutally honest with yourself.)

  • A remote worker who is looking for a place to be inspired for a week.
  • Someone interested in learning more about Mongolia and meeting the locals who live there.
  • A person who is able to live in a shared space, open to meeting other remote workers from around the world, and is interested in making connections that will last a lifetime.
  • A person who is able to be focused and goal-oriented while in a new place.
  • A traveler who embraces the unfamiliar and is ready and open to having the experience of a lifetime.

If you said yes to any of the above, than great! Mongolia, and this week-long experience, is right for you.
